Summary
Crystal and Scooter help get the first trip ready and off, and then in another week it's their turn; they had agreed that Scooter would lead their first trip. One night, Crystal opens a bottle of champagne, and announces that it's the anniversary of the day when she called Scooter and convinced her to come out to the Canyon. Scooter thanks her again for changing her life for the better.
Duane is working out well, and learning from the three girls and Jerry. When they get back to Flagstaff, Al tells Crystal that he heard from Karin, and the divorce hearing went off with no problems.
Jim shows up at the Burro, where Crystal and Scooter are having a beer or two, and observes that he won't be doing a trip for a few weeks. Scooter suggests that he might want to go on their next trip as an unpaid swamper, in order to get more oarboat experience. He expresses interest, and they go to see Al, who is agreeable, noting that he doesn't poach employees from the other tour operators without an agreement.
Crystal and Karin talk after she gets back from Chicago. Everything went OK; Pete was civil but cold. Nobody knew anything about Nanci, but they expect to hear from her eventually.
