Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is a private research university in upstate New York. It is the oldest technological university in the English-speaking world. It is often simply referred to as RPI.

John McClellan and his roomate Chad attended RPI in 1993, earning Master's degrees in Structural Engineering and Math, respectively.
