Summary

When they get to Randy's house in Spearfish Lake, Scooter asks Nicole how long it was after the wedding before she got rid of the handcuffs. Apparently Nicole and Randy were at cross-purposes; neither was going to say anything until the other brought up the subject. Finally, on the first day of school, Randy barged into Nicole's classroom and removed the handcuffs, gave her a quick kiss, and left.

The subject turns to Carole Carter, who wore them for 6 years. This leads to a visit with Wendy and Carole. Carole mentioned that the handcuffs had become an addiction for her, and Scooter and Crystal agreed that in their own way, they were addicted to the Canyon. Even Nicole said that she had come close to being addicted to hiking the AT.

As they headed back to Flagstaff a few days later, Crystal said "I guess Carole was right, we're addicted to it."

Scooter replied "Six weeks or so until we get our first fix, Crystal."
