In 1983 Sylvia Ricks is attending Hinckley Junior College and is confined to a wheelchair because of Muscular Dystrophy. She meets Judy Niven the first day and befriends her. They are opposites in many way but become best friends.^TNG7 Sylvia is the Matron of Honour at the wedding of Judy and Ken Sorensen^TNG11. By Spring 1986 She is in Wrightsville hospital, almost completely immobilized. Judy and Ken do not think that it would be long before they attend her funeral.^TNG17
