Marty Novato is a train mechanic for the C&SL Railroad during Facing the Storm.

Marty was hired by Bud Ellsberg right out of high school. He worked with Ed Sloat, then semi-retired, to become a talented diesel maintainer. "Marty could also be dragged away from the shop occasionally, if absolutely necessary" to fill in as a brakeman or engineer.^FtS07
