Daniel Clark EvachevskiBAR076, aka Danny, is the youngest child of Gil Evachevski and Carrie Matson. His older siblings are Jennifer, Garth, Brandy and Tara. Danny was born in 1969 in Germany, where his father was stationed at the time.AF04 Danny is named after his grandfather, also named Daniel Evachevski.
Danny started working part time as a brakeman on the C&SL Railroad in High School with his best friend, Josh Archer.RM19 They were both on the football team together and shared John Pacobel's Advanced Biology class where they made the initial tentative identification of a snake found in Kirsten Langerderfer's bathroom as being either a Northern Water Snake or a Gibson's Water Snake. They assist Pam Appleton in looking for further examples.
Danny had known the Ashtenfelter sisters for years as both families belonged to West Turtle Lake Club, but he didn't start dating Marsha until High School. The pair managed to beat Kirsten and Mike McMahon in the finals of the Spearfish Lake mixed doubles championship in 1987.AF29
Danny and Josh both played football in High School, although they were not as good as his sister Brandy. They also played a lot of basketball and Brandy could beat them with one hand tied behind her back.FtS02
Danny continued to work summers for the railroad while attended Western State at Athens. He hurt a knee and was unable to play football,AF33 but he earned a half-ride on a baseball scholarship SQ01. He also worked as a bartender some evenings, something he continued on occasion after graduating SQ01.
As Brandy's brother, he met Phil Wine and introduced him to Josh, allowing Phil to discover and explore an interest in dogsledding.RM11
Danny and Marsha got married after college and moved to Florida where he had a job in sales.FtS02 By 2000 their marriage had difficulties, not least because she spoiled relations between him and his family and friends in Spearfish Lake.FtS38 He separated from Marsha in late 2000 and stayed in Antelope Valley to qualify for a Nevada residency and divorce, working as a bartender at the Redlite Ranch. Danny was busy serving drinks the weekend that Max Hawkins had his dogfight with Jennlynn Swift. He worked 19 hours straight and instigated much of the side betting.MC28 He moved back to Spearfish Lake and despite initial difficulties prospered. Initially he split his working time between the Camden and Spearfish Lake Railroad and Spearfish Lake Appliance. Later after he met and married Debbie Elkstalker (a very distant relative), he ran the new Spearfish Lake Appliance and Furniture store in place of his Father Gil Evachevski. He also served as Chamber President of the Chamber of Commerce, though it is not stated for how long. He continued to work as a very occasional brake man for the Camden and Spearfish Lake Railroad and along with Debbie published "Man of Memory -- the Journal of the Rev. Dr. Robert Carter among the Shakahatche, 1858-1892". In addition he learnt and taught Shakahatche, increasing the number speaking the ancient tongue to fifty two.
He has two children (names not mentioned) by Debbie, his second wife.SQ51.
