Summary
Mark and Jackie follow a path from the airstrip, and come to the remains of a church. They meet Brother Erasmus and EJ, who offers to take them to the local phone company, where they might be able to call her parents. They meet Bessie and Paul, who run the local phone company, using an antique switchboard. Paul recruits Mark to help repair the tornado damage to the phone lines, and eventually the line to the outside world is working and Mark calls his father to ask him to send down what he needs to repair Rocinante's wings. Paul and Bessie insist that they stay for dinner.
