Debbie Elkstalker is a full-blood Indian (Shakahatchie) and tribal shaman. She is employed as the Assistant Ad Manager at the Spearfish Lake Record-Herald at the time of Andromeda Chained. Debbie is specifically thanked by Wendy Carter for her help in Wendy's writing at the end of that book. She is still employed at the newspaper during Blue Beauty, although her position is not mentioned.

Debbie is described as "chubby but with a pretty, exotic face, a gift of gab and a wry sense of humor." AC, Ch.1
